Foreign capital is arriving: BP, Abu Dhabi's XRG and Qatar's UCC took equal shares on Thursday in phase two of the offshore Loran gasfield, among the first large foreign investments since Maduro's removal.

Venezuela's oil and gas sector is being opened to international companies after the US ousted Nicolás Maduro in January. Caracas has since been awarding exploration and production licences to foreign energy groups, whose large-scale investment in the country had been absent. At stake is which companies return, and on what terms.
