The Rapid Support Forces launched a coordinated drone attack on Wednesday against the capital and other army-held cities hundreds of kilometres apart, the second consecutive day of such strikes, Le Monde reported. The RSF separately said it had captured a key town near the Ethiopian and South Sudanese borders.
Drones suspected to belong to Sudan's Rapid Support Forces hit three cities on Wednesday, residents said. Neither side in the war has commented.
Hundreds of thousands who fled Sudan's war are competing for food and water in eastern Chad. Aid agencies say conditions there have moved beyond breaking point.
Pope Leo XIV called for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan after the army under Al Burhan vowed to continue the war, The National reported on Monday. A commentary in the same paper a day later said the outlook is bleak without a change of course.
Leo XIV urged the international community on Sunday to support efforts for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan and the opening of humanitarian corridors, in a conflict that Le Monde says has killed tens of thousands.
