During his visit to Japan, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz invited Tokyo to back a global alliance for rules-based trade, according to Reuters and FAZ. China called on Germany and the EU to be "rational" on trade and supply chain issues, while Takaichi pressed Merz not to leave Japan out of "Made in Europe" EV subsidies, Nikkei Asia reports.
