Zelensky says Ukraine gets only 12 Patriot missiles a month as drone strikes continue

7 sources

Zelensky said on Wednesday that the US approved a package of 12 Patriot missiles while Ukraine fired 35 in October. Drone attacks hit both countries overnight.

According to UNIAN, quoted by TASS, Zelensky said US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth signed off on a package of 12 missiles, while Ukraine has fired 35 this month. He said the other 23 came through other channels, without naming the countries. Bloomberg reports that Zelensky urged Hegseth to speed up the release of Patriot missiles. TASS recalls that CNN reported on 15 October, citing sources, that Ukraine's Patriot stockpile was depleted.

Ukrainian drones hit Russian regions

Russia's Defense Ministry says air defenses destroyed 531 Ukrainian drones between 8 p.m. on Tuesday, 27 October, and 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Tula Governor Dmitry Milyayev said falling debris damaged apartment buildings, houses and industrial-zone infrastructure in Novomoskovsk. Ukrainian Telegram channels cited by Meduza say the Azot chemical plant was hit, which authorities have not confirmed. In the Lipetsk region, the governor said one person needed medical attention.

Russian strikes on Ukraine

Ukraine says it neutralised 71 drones overnight, according to Le Monde. Oleksandr Koval, head of the Rivne regional military administration, said a civilian was killed when an enterprise was shelled. Al Jazeera reports that a Russian drone attack on Kharkiv late Tuesday forced elderly women and children to leave their homes.
