GMO Internet is compensating customers of its foreign exchange trading service after a cyberattack. Japanese companies are facing a wave of attacks, Reuters and the South China Morning Post report.

GMO Internet CEO Masatoshi Kumagai said in a blog post on Sunday, 25 October, that customers would be compensated for losses stemming from unauthorised access. All customers would receive 5,000 yen (US$32) as "an initial gesture of good faith". The South China Morning Post cites experts who say AI is making cybercrime faster, cheaper and harder to detect.
