Mass drone strikes kill civilians in Ukraine and Russia

Russia's Defence Ministry said it downed 532 Ukrainian drones overnight into Sunday. Zelensky said Russia fired nearly 2,300 drones and 48 missiles at Ukraine in a week.

Ukrainian drones hit Russian regions from Belgorod to Omsk on Sunday, 25 October, according to Russian officials. Local authorities in Belgorod reported three dead and 14 injured (Politika), while Le Monde's live blog counts two dead in the city and two more in villages of the region. In Omsk, Governor Vitaly Khotsenko said three people were injured and not in danger. Reuters, citing the governor, reports five injured and an industrial facility damaged in the Perm region.

Russian strikes across Ukraine

Zelensky said Russian attacks killed four and injured 22 in the Dnipropetrovsk region overnight, and a drone injured six in a Vinnytsia apartment block. He added that Russia also used about 1,600 guided bombs in the week and hit power plants, substations and coal mines in nine regions. Le Monde reports at least one dead after a Russian drone hit a minibus in Kherson.

Talks planned for November

Zelensky confirmed a US-mediated Russia-Ukraine meeting in November and said a ceasefire for a humanitarian operation in Russian-occupied Olechky would begin on Tuesday. He urged that sanctions on Russia not be lifted before the talks.
