SpaceX has closed $40bn in debt financing to buy graphics processors, Elon Musk said on X. Reports of the deal appeared on Sunday.
Musk said SpaceX's good credit rating and the revenue from Starlink and rocket launches secured access to the loans. According to Musk, the financing is mainly callable debt for GPUs arriving in the first and second quarters, and it is not a material factor for the current quarter. Reuters had reported earlier in October that SpaceX was negotiating with banks and asset managers to raise $40bn for Nvidia chips. SpaceX's third-quarter revenue rose 161 percent year on year to $14.58bn, according to Handelsblatt. Capital expenditure almost tripled to $19.6bn, so computing infrastructure spending remains huge. Bloomberg's headline says Musk also attacked so-called neoclouds, but its text was not available to us.
