Symbolic imageMeta releases Muse Wonder models, says it has reached AI frontier
Meta unveiled the AI models Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full on Monday and says they rival systems from OpenAI and Anthropic.
Chief executive Mark Zuckerberg wrote on X that Wonder is "a much larger and more advanced class of models" than the Muse Spark family and "brings us to the frontier". Alexandr Wang, Meta's chief AI officer, called it "our largest and most capable model yet". Meta cites benchmarks from the firm Artificial Analysis that appear to show Wonder beating Spark and models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, though the same site lists Wonder among the most expensive models. The models are due to reach Meta's Muse personal agent app, for paid subscribers only.
Costly catch-up
Meta launched Spark in April, a break from its open-source Llama line, which lagged the industry. It invested $14 billion in Scale AI in June 2025, and in July said AI-related spending could reach $145 billion this year, as it seeks revenue beyond advertising.
Safety and slowdown
The Financial Times reports that Zuckerberg rejects calls for a slowdown. Meta says it delayed shipping Muse for several months to focus on safety and security.
