Symbolic imageLula accepts Bolsonaro's terms for record disclosure before Brazil run-off
Lula's campaign says he accepts Flávio Bolsonaro's conditions for a mutual release of financial records. The run-off is on Sunday.
Lula offered on Tuesday to open his bank, tax and phone records, and those of his family, if Flávio Bolsonaro did the same, after a challenge in the debate on Sunday, 18 October. Bolsonaro replied that he would comply only if Lula also disclosed records of advisers, security staff and companies held by Lula's children. On Thursday campaign coordinator Camilo Santana said Lula accepts, adding his brother José Ferreira da Silva and former chief of staff Marco Aurélio Santana Ribeiro. Telesur reports the PT gave Bolsonaro until 11:00 on Thursday to release his data; the sources do not say whether he did.
Polls and undecided voters
The BBC News Brasil poll aggregator puts Bolsonaro one point ahead, The Economist reports; he led the first round on 4 October with 47% to 45%, according to Le Monde. Al Jazeera says both candidates court 30 million undecided voters.
Amazon at stake
El País notes that deforestation fell 71% during Lula's term, while Bolsonaro promises looser environmental rules. The issue has been almost absent from the campaign.
Other opinions
Telesur presents the disclosure as Lula pressing Bolsonaro with a deadline and omits the investigations around Lula's son, which Al Jazeera mentions alongside those targeting Bolsonaro.
