Symbolic imageIsraeli strike kills woman in Gaza City as ceasefire strains
An Israeli air strike killed a woman in Gaza City on Wednesday, and settlers burned a West Bank prayer room. Israel is also blocking a Board of Peace outpost.
The strike hit an apartment block in Gaza City's Rimal neighbourhood early on Wednesday, 14 October, killing Reem Asaad Awad, 33, and wounding two others, Anadolu reported, citing Al-Shifa hospital. Israel says it is investigating and claims it targeted a Hamas member, without evidence, according to Al Jazeera. Gaza's Health Ministry counts at least 1,498 Palestinians killed since the October 2025 ceasefire; Al Jazeera gives 1,501. Israeli security officials told the Jerusalem Post that Hamas has not disarmed.
West Bank arson and raids
Settlers burned a prayer room and a car in Mukhmas, a local official told Anadolu. On Tuesday, the IDF raided the Addameer association in Ramallah and an orphans' charity in Yatta, arresting five, and calls both fronts for Hamas and the PFLP. Addameer's former director Sahar Francis denies this and calls the raid election-eve propaganda.
Board of Peace outpost blocked
Israel has not let a contract for a base housing 150 international troops proceed since August, a source told the Guardian. The Board expects approval after the 27 October election; Israel declined to comment.
Other opinions
The Jerusalem Post calls the raided groups terror fronts, while Telesur reports Addameer's denial and calls the raids persecution.
