Houthis vow more strikes after Aramco headquarters hit

12 sources

Houthi missiles damaged Saudi Aramco's headquarters in Dhahran on Tuesday night. The group says attacks on Saudi airports and oil sites will continue.

On Wednesday the Houthis said they had fired ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones at Aramco facilities in Dhahran, Riyadh's King Khalid airport and a Riyadh refinery, without saying when. Three sources told Reuters the Dhahran headquarters suffered extensive damage on Tuesday, 13 October, with a fire spreading across the sixth to 10th floors and the top three floors severely damaged. Saudi Arabia's energy ministry spoke of a limited fire without casualties. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said operations would go on against "airports and oil facilities". The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted a missile fired at Riyadh on Wednesday, and Saudi authorities reported four people hurt by debris.

Coalition strikes around Sanaa

On Tuesday the coalition bombed oil installations in Sanaa and infrastructure in Saada, hours after issuing its first evacuation call since July, ahead of a "special operation" in the Yemeni capital.

Mediation offer and economic fallout

Houthi official Mohamed al-Bukhaiti told AP the group would accept mediation, possibly by Oman, if Saudi forces withdraw and economic pressure ends. The IMF warned the attacks could raise fuel prices worldwide, and Saudi Arabia plans a hybrid format for its investment conference later this month, two people told Reuters.

Other opinions

Saudi officials and the UAE-based The National stress a limited fire without casualties, while Reuters sources describe extensive damage.
