Gazprom says Europe's underground storage holds 13.4 billion cubic metres less than a year ago and is refilling very slowly, with the EU's 2027 ban on Russian gas approaching; a Greek politician warns the planned replacement corridor exists only on paper.

The EU has decided to end imports of Russian pipeline gas and LNG by 2027. Europe refills its underground storage each summer to cover winter demand, so the phase-out sets Brussels' timetable against member states in the southeast that still rely on Russian supply and lack alternative routes.

Gazprom said on Thursday that European underground storage holds 13.4 billion cubic metres less gas than a year ago and is refilling very slowly. Greek politician Panagiotis Lafazanis told TASS that the EU's ban on Russian pipeline gas and LNG by 2027 would hit Greece hardest, and that the planned Vertical Corridor to Ukraine remains only on paper.
