Symbolic imageHouthis reported near Aden as fighting spreads to al-Jawf and Saudi airports
Reuters, citing sources, reports Houthi forces have come within 80 km of Aden. The Houthis also claim drone strikes on Saudi airports as government forces press on in al-Jawf.
Reuters reported on Monday, 2 November, that Houthi forces have advanced to within 80 km of Aden, citing sources. Only the headline was available, so details of the front and any government response are unclear. The Houthis declared a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia in July and, per TASS, took Mocha in early August.
Al-Jawf counteroffensive
Government forces are pushing east of al-Hazm under Operation Dawn of Yemen. Colonel Rabie Al-Qurashi says they control the Huwaishan range; army spokesman Majed Abdullah al-Nazili claims roughly 500 Houthi fighters were killed in 24 hours, a figure not independently verified.
Saudi airports targeted
Houthi spokesperson Yahia Saria says the Houthis targeted Dammam airport with two drones and struck a radar and a military transport aircraft at Jazan. The coalition says defences destroyed a ballistic missile over the south on Monday, and civil defence briefly issued alerts in Abha, Najran, Taif and Khamis Mushait.

TASS relays only the Houthi claims on the airports, while Al Jazeera foregrounds government gains and coalition interceptions.
