Keiko Fujimori sworn in as Peru's president amid protests in Lima

Keiko Fujimori took office after a narrow election win, becoming the first woman elected by popular vote to lead Peru and marking the return of Fujimorism after almost 30 years, El País reports. Demonstrators protested in Lima as she promised an iron-fisted crackdown on crime, and the presidents of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile attended the inauguration.
