Symbolic imageSaudi coalition strikes Sanaa oil sites as Houthis target Riyadh and Aramco
The Saudi-led coalition struck oil facilities around Sanaa on Tuesday after an evacuation warning. The Houthis answered with missiles and drones aimed at Riyadh and Dhahran.
Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki confirmed strikes on Sanaa oil installations and other infrastructure in Saada and Dhamar on Tuesday, 13 October, hours after the first evacuation call since fighting resumed in July. The Yemen Petroleum Company said stocks and supply were unaffected. The Houthis said Saudi aircraft flew 104 strikes in 24 hours on Sanaa and eight provinces, hurting civilians.
Attacks on Riyadh and Aramco
The Houthis declared Aramco sites legitimate targets and told civilians to keep away. Saudi civil defence said debris from intercepted missiles injured four people and damaged 15 homes in Riyadh. Authorities reported a limited fire, with no casualties, at an Aramco administrative site in Dhahran.
Flights cut, Trump weighs in
Several airlines suspended Saudi flights, AP reported. Trump said the Houthis, probably at Iran's instigation, are deliberately raising oil prices before the US midterms; he did not say whether the US will strike and might ask Erdogan to help. Erdogan told the crown prince by phone that Turkey stands by Saudi Arabia.
