Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia on Saturday killed between 12 and 20 people by differing Ukrainian counts, a day after Washington's Russian diesel deal.
Zelensky said Russia dropped five glide bombs on residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia, calling it Moscow's “thanks” for the diesel deal Trump announced on Friday, 9 October. The State Emergency Service reported three children among the dead and at least 18 wounded. Zelensky said 13 regions were targeted overnight, damaging homes and rail facilities.
Kyiv power and bridges
Ukraine's largest private energy provider reported large-scale outages in Kyiv, and missiles struck the city in daytime, wounding four, according to Mayor Klitschko. The Financial Times reports that drones hit two Kyiv bridges and one in Zaporizhzhia over the past week.
Diesel deal fallout
Trump said Ukraine should get “a new leader” and blamed Zelensky for not making deals; Foreign Minister Sybiha replied that Ukrainians choose their leader. EU foreign policy chief Kallas said the deal gives Moscow more war revenue, and EU ministers plan to approve 1,600 new sanctions listings on Monday.
