An envoy of US President Donald Trump held a rare meeting with Sudan's army chief in Egypt in an attempt to end the war, according to the Jerusalem Post and The National. The army has been fighting the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces since April 2023, when the two fell out over issues including how to integrate their forces in a transition to civilian rule.
