Lebanon abolishes the death penalty

Lebanon's parliament on Tuesday approved legislation abolishing the death penalty and replacing it with life imprisonment with aggravated hard labour. According to the South China Morning Post, the vote makes Lebanon the first Arab country to end capital punishment outright.
