President Vladimir Putin pardoned Robert Gilman, 32, on humanitarian grounds, and US officials said the release was not part of an exchange, Meduza and Le Monde reported on Tuesday. The former Marine, convicted in 2022 of violence against a police officer and held in a penal colony in Voronezh, is on his way to a hospital in Texas, according to the advocacy group Global Reach.
