An unidentified projectile struck a cargo vessel about 37 km northeast of Khasab, Oman, overnight into Tuesday. The Jerusalem Post reports that Iran's Revolutionary Guard attacked a US base in Kuwait with drones the same morning.

Rzeczpospolita, citing PAP, traces the escalation to rival readings of the preliminary agreement signed on 17 June: Washington reads its Hormuz clause as a full reopening for civilian ships, Tehran as recognition of Iranian sovereignty over a route along its own coast. The Polish outlet adds that Iran then blocked the waterway and demanded transit fees, and that analysts at Kpler measured traffic down 77 percent within a day, to five vessels.
