Under new EU rules, companies must ensure people know when they are dealing with artificially generated images, audio and text designed to look real, and the bloc rolled out a team on Friday to rein in AI firms over deepfakes, illicit images and hacking. Google the same day rolled back a Google Earth feature that let users generate AI visualisations on top of satellite imagery, after a backlash from researchers.
